Dogs at Ridley Creek
Yes, Ridley Creek State Park is dog friendly. Pennsylvania state parks allow pets in day-use areas and on trails that are not closed to them, so leashed dogs can walk the White, Yellow and other trails, the paved multi-use trail and the picnic areas. Dogs must be on a leash (or caged or crated) and physically controlled at all times; electronic leashes and fences do not count. Pets are not allowed inside park buildings. Bring bags: owners must pick up after their dogs.

The Rules, in Plain Words
Pennsylvania DCNR's pet rules apply at Ridley Creek:
- Keep your dog on a leash, caged or crated, and under physical control.
- Electronic fences, shock collars and invisible leashes are not allowed as the main control.
- Do not tie a dog to a tree or leave it staked to the ground.
- Do not leave your dog unattended, except briefly in a vehicle while you use a restroom, weather permitting.
- Dogs need current rabies vaccinations and a license if your home state requires one.
- Pick up waste and dispose of it properly.
- Excessive barking counts as a disturbance.
- Aggressive or vicious dogs are not permitted.
Where Dogs Can Go
- Trails: all the hiking trails, including the White Trail and Yellow Trail, and the paved multi-use trail. On the Bridle Trail, keep your dog close when horses pass.
- Picnic areas: yes. Pavilion 11B is listed as pet friendly (Picnic Areas).
- Not allowed: inside buildings, including the mansion and park office.

Hunting Season and Dog Training
Parts of the park are open to archery deer hunting in season, so put a blaze-orange vest or bandana on your dog in the fall (Hunting). The whole park closes on the two December controlled-hunt days. State park rules allow dog training only from the day after Labor Day through March 31, and only in designated hunting areas.
Ticks and Water
DCNR's guide reminds visitors that natural areas have hazards and that personal safety is your responsibility. Check your dog for ticks after woods walks, and bring water; drinking fountains are not listed on DCNR's pages.
Good For
- Leashed dog walks on wooded trails close to Philadelphia.
- Gentle, paved walks with older dogs on the multi-use trail.
